Agents

Agents

Having an agent is not required to build a career in theatre, but representation can be helpful in certain contexts. The biggest benefit to having an agent is that someone else will advocate and negotiate on your behalf. This is especially helpful when working with larger companies and higher budget projects. Your agent will take a commission of your fee, and some may require commission on everything you earn in your field, whether or not they got you that job.

While actors working in theatre can submit for auditions themselves and don't require an agent, actors looking to work in film do need an agent to find work in the film industry.

**A reputable agent will not ask for a fee up front, so do not sign with an agent who asks you to pay them**
